The Real Reason Behind Peter Boyle's Departure

Okay, so you might've heard that Peter Boyle left the show due to health issues. What you might not know is that it was actually because he didn't want to do any more comedy shows (yep, I said it). In 2006, Boyle passed away from multiple myeloma and heart disease. The show's producers kept his diagnosis pretty under wraps, but apparently, he wanted no part in further "embarrassing" himself on screen.

Garrett told Larry King that Boyle's illness was kept just between the family and cast (weirdly familiar with that one). But let's be real, if Pete didn't want to do any more sitcoms, who can blame him? I mean, have you seen his eyebrows? They're like a work of art - or a warning sign. Either way, we miss him.

Patricia Heaton's Secret Suffering

This one's a little more juicy for all you behind-the-scenes fans out there. In 2009, Patricia Heaton was sued by her former personal assistant, Jennifer Lee. Apparently, Lee had been working for Heaton since the show ended (talk about dedication). However, things took a turn when Lee claimed that she wasn't paid her full wages, despite doing extra work without extra pay or benefits.

Now, I'm not saying Heaton is an angel (I mean, come on, have you seen Frank's grumpy face?). But this? That's just nasty. And let me tell you, after all the times she gave me lip when we were filming, I was rooting for her from afar.

Brad Garrett's Boozy Past

Even Brad Garrett, the show's beloved lovable drunk (just kidding... kinda), had some serious issues to deal with during its run. In a 2015 interview with ET, he confessed that he was a "high-functioning alcoholic" back in the day.

"This sh*t's eventually gonna kill me," he said, which sounds like something I'd say after one too many beers at the bar (don't worry, I won't tell anyone).
